In all institutions it becomes necessary for some to lead and direct the affairs for the time being, and for some others to follow under their leadership" (Ritual 102) As we pass the torch from Mrs. Lind to Mrs. Martin, we open a new chapter in our Rainbow History.

Mrs. Martin began her journey in Rainbow over 40 years ago, in Colusa, California. Since her initiation day she has been active in the Order. She became Worthy Advisor in 1961 and later became a Grand Officer. As an adult, she supported local assemblies and, in 1985, she was installed on the Yorba Linda Advisory Board. In 1994, she became the Mother Advisor of what is now Fullerton-Yorba Linda Assembly, and in 1998, was appointed as an Adult Member of the Grand Executive Committee. Also, Mrs. Martin is active in Eastern Star. As such, she was a Deputy Grand Matron and a Grand Officer. Mrs. Martin and her husband, Glenn, a Past Master (some of you may remember him from the Last Official Visit as W. Mark Sexson), have one daughter, a Past Grand Officer, a son, a Past Master Counselor, and a foster son.

In spite of the time that Mrs. Martin will be sharing with California Rainbow, she will continue to work as a Speech Pathologist and a Special Education teacher. During her spare time, she enjoys snow skiing, pheasant hunting and fly-fishing (trout only).

The Martin family is a musical one. Mrs. Martin plays the piano, while Glenn and their kids sing. While growing up, she lived on a farm, which is still family operated. Their farm harvests vein seeds, wheat, alfalfa, sugar beets and sunflowers. During initiation, Mrs. Martin enjoys giving the Mother Advisor speech. It is her favorite in the Ritual. However, her favorite part of Rainbow is watching the girls grow and develop into young women with good, strong moral character.

Congratulations, Mrs. Martin. May this chapter in your Rainbow book be filled with love, laughter, and priceless memories. California Rainbow is looking forward to your love and guidance. We know that your positive, energetic attitude and eternal love for Rainbow will lead us in the right direction for years to come.
