Grand Assembly Sew and Show Competition for 2002

Age Categories (at time of 2002 Grand Assembly)

11 through 14 15 through 17 18 to Majority

Garment Categories

Sports and Casual Skirt, Blouse, Shorts, Ski or Swim Wear, Pants, etc. Fabric: Cotton, Denim, Corduroy, Knits, etc.
Casual Dress Street Length or Long Fabric: Cotton, Knits, etc.
Evening, Prom, or Party Dress Formal, Party-type, Street Length or Long Fabric: Organza, Taffeta, Chiffon, Velvet, Satin, etc.
Pantaloons Frilly or fun Fabric: your choice

Judging will be base on:

Selection and coordination of pattern and fabric.
Difficulty of pattern and fabric (not applicable in "Pantaloons" category
Finishing: handwork, hem, buttons, snaps, etc
Coordination of trim: lace, buttons selected, etc
Construction neatness and techniques (gathering, matching fabric design, etc.)

Awards

Sweepstakes for highest scoring garment in first three categories. Pantaloons are not eligible for sweepstakes trophy.
First, Second and Third Place ribbons in each age category in each garment category
All entries will model their garment in Sew & Show Fashion Parade during sessions.

Competition Rules

1. Participant must be an active member in good standing and not have reached Majority prior to Grand Assembly 2002.
2. Participant must be pre-registered and attend Grand Assembly Sessions.
3. Participant must select and construct the garment herself. She may be advised and guided by an adult. However, the advisor, parent or teacher may not select, cut, press, or sew the garment in any aspect.
4. Only one (1) garment or ensemble may be entered per participant.
5. Each participant is responsible for her garment to be in perfect condition for judging. Garment must be checked in by Saturday, March 23, 2002 between 8:00 am and 12 Noon. Your Grand Deputy may bring your garment for early check-in t my hotel room on Thursday evening, March 21st. Late submissions will be disqualified.
6. Entry form must be completed, signed and and faxed or mailed to the Chairman by February 14, 2002.
7. Bring accessories for Sew & Show Fashion Parade such as shoes, belt, jewelry, appropriate undergarments, slip, etc.
8. Girls entering Pantaloon Category, please bring a blouse or nice top which will complement your creation. No skirt lifting, no bathing suit tops, no bare midriffs, etc. Remember, you are young ladies and Rainbow Girls.

See your Mother Advisor for application form and remember the deadline (February 14, 2002).
